If you store most of your data on CDs and DVDs, you will find it quite hard to locate your favorite audio tracks or an important document, even if you label you discs. As MCataloguer's name suggests, you can use this program to catalog the contents of your discs, as well as entire folders structures from your hard drive. It allows you to associate any information with individual catalogs, find lyrics for audio tracks and more.

The installation package is almost 7 MB, which should not be a challenge for any Internet connection. The setup procedure is straightforward and easy. You can have the software up and running in less than a minute and you may run it right away, without installing any additional tools or rebooting your machine.

The layout of MCataloguer's interface is similar to a standard explorer window. You may create multi-level categories in a tree structure, on the left side of the window and organize your catalogs however you want. Disc and folder catalogs are created with separate options. To create a folder catalog, you just need to select a folder, on an Open dialog, which contains a few options for creating thumbnails, extracting archives and others.

MCataloguer shines the most when you catalog your audio CDs. Its contained tracks will appear on a separate window, where you can specify the artist's name, the album, genre, year and other details or let the software retrieve the information from various online databases. It can find basic information about an album, lyrics and covers and it lets you decide which database to use.

The program's search function can be used to locate specific files much faster. Additionally, you can sort your data in various ways. If you make any changes in one of your folders, you can synchronize the catalog with the modified contents.
